Hove, which is conjoined to Brighton as Brighton & Hove City, is a town in its own right, located in East Sussex. Developed next to the English Channel, Hove grew in popularity, as did Brighton, as a seaside town with the gentry in the 18th and 19th centuries. The sea air was considered to be good for the health. Hove today still displays this interest in its regency era architecture in many parts of the town. George Street is a good shopping spot, pedestrianised in the late 1900s with individual shops, which are a big draw for visitors to the town, Hove also has some excellent restaurants and is a good location for commuters to access work in Brighton, Lewes and up to London.
Hove is quieter than Brighton. The area is still busy with a thriving shopping centre around George Street and wonderful Georgian and Victorian architecture in the residential streets. There’s something incredibly impressive about the tall look of the buildings in these roads and visitors get a real sense of authentic historicity. There are a number of local industries but Hove Railway Station is also a popular gateway for commuters getting to Brighton, Worthing and other areas of Sussex – even to London.
There are several primary schools serving Hove: Aldrington CE School, Benfield Junior School, Cottesmore St Mary’s Catholic School, Goldstone Primary School, Hangleton Junior School, Mile Oak Primary School, Brunswick Primary School, St Andrew’s CE School, West Blatchington Primary and Nursery School, and West Hove Junior School. Four secondary schools also serve Hove: Blatchington Mill School, Cardinal Newman Catholic School, Hove Park School and also King’s School. There are a number of further education centres too, such as Hove Park Sixth Form Centre, BHASVIC and Blatchington Mill Sixth Form College. Independent schools in Hove include The Drive Prep School, Deepdene School and Lancing College Preparatory School.
Competent Person Registration Scheme - HETAS
The installation, replacement or any alteration to the position of a solid fuel combustion appliance (wood burning stove) is subject by law to building regulations. Competent person schemes were introduced by the Government in 2002 to allow individuals to self-certify that their work complies with these regulations; as an efficient alternative to notifying the local authority or using an approved inspector. I am part of such a scheme - see below - which gives customers reassurance that my work is legally compliant.
HETAS is the official body recognised by the Government to approve solid fuel domestic heating appliances, fuels and services including the registration of competent installers and servicing businesses. To achieve this objective, HETAS operates a registration scheme that supports installers and businesses involved in this area to work safely, efficiently and within the various regulations which apply to the work involved.
TLC Liners and Stoves is HETAS registered and, after commissioning your wood burning stove, a certificate will be issued.
